Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for primary architecture, design, implementation and operational support of mission-critical relational database systems. Responsible for maintenance and support of Oracle database instances, grid control, OAS, and clustering services.
-- Provides database architecture and design expertise to client-driven projects. -- Proactively conducts performance monitoring, optimizations and tuning as needed. -- Responsible for logical and physical design, ensuring database availability, scalability and overall performance. -- Responsible for backup and recovery procedures. -- Provides database-related support for application development teams. -- Proactively automate routine DBA tasks through shell scripting, Grid Control and other solutions. -- Manage storage requirements for database instances. Monitor storage utilization and develop thresholds in order to identify capacity constraints and propose capacity solutions. -- Understand and optimize logical and physical data models used by application teams. -- Research, recommend and implement solutions to assist in system performance and availability monitoring efforts. -- Work closely with network, security and systems administrators to optimize database and related systems; coordinate with systems administrators to specify, build and support new Oracle instances. -- Manage instance security, availability, performance monitoring and tuning, physical database design and implementation, and database integrity, including verification of backups, recovery strategies, user access, version control and growth planning. -- Develop, implement, administer and maintain policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of all Oracle platform installations. -- Document all support procedures and cross-train other members of the team. -- Review, approve, apply and test patches, changes and/or modifications to databases. -- Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff members with varying levels of information technology expertise. -- Must be capable of interacting with internal customers in a professional and polished manner. -- Proactive self-starter with a proven track record of self-learning and training others -- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and stay focused on priorities in a fast-paced environment. -- Position require 24/7 availability
REQUIRED SKILLS:
-- 2-4 years Oracle database administration experience -- Experience with Oracle 10g RAC -- Experience with Oracle Application Server -- Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence -- Strong PL/SQL coding and tuning skills -- Basic UNIX/Linux (Solaris & Red Hat) administration skills and shell scripting expertise -- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills -- Strong written and verbal communication skills -- Knowledge of current technological trends/developments in area of expertise -- Knowledge and skills in systems analysis, systems design and information architecture to effectively design and create databases
DESIRED SKILLS:
-- Experience with sizable high volume OLTP and DSS environments (250 GB +) -- Experience with back-end and middle-tier support of J2EE deployment practices and protocols strongly preferred
