Provides technical engineering for complex systems related to LAN/WAN hardware and software, performance, problem determination or resource management. This position requires communication and coordination with vendors, technicians, clients, and management.
Required Skills:
- Define networking requirements; perform detailed analysis
- Develop designs for WAN and LAN components; formulating procedures
- Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and determine risk for moderately complex production and/or operational decision within a functional area
- Ensure that established procedures and standards for implementations are followed and coordinate changes with other support staff
Required Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or work experience
- 5+ years of LAN/WAN experience.
- Two years of LAN/WAN project planning and experience with LAN/WAN management tools
- Three years of engineering enterprise LAN/WAN solutions, experience in a medium to large enterprise LAN/WAN environment
- Experience with Frame Relay, ATM, MPLS, DWDM, SONET, Gigabit Ethernet, and Fiber channel
- Be proficient with IP addressing and Subnet masking architecture.
- Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities and rapid change; able to handle adversity and maintain effectiveness
- Experience delivering presentations to medium and large audiences, and IT departmental management.
- Advanced level understanding of network protocols and troubleshooting.
- Four years experience with Cisco IOS, L2/L3 switching and routing configuration, LAN/WAN troubleshooting
- Two years of advanced routing protocol experience, preferably with OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
- Experience with load-balancing technologies
- Experience with various VPN technologies
- Understanding of ITIL or equivalent process methodology
- CCNP certification
